Frequently asked questions
Which credit card issuers does this work with?
The parser reads layout patterns, not issuer-specific templates, so statements from major US issuers — American Express, Chase, Citi, Capital One, Discover, Bank of America, Wells Fargo — and most store or business cards convert cleanly. If your statement uses an unusual layout, the preview table lets you correct rows before exporting.
Why convert a card statement to Excel?
Common uses: building expense reports with your own categories, catching up months of bookkeeping at once, preparing Schedule C or business tax records, and sharing readable transaction lists with an accountant — all things a PDF makes painful and a spreadsheet makes trivial.
Are purchases shown as negative or positive?
Card statements vary: many list purchases as positive charges and payments/credits separately. The converter classifies charges as debits (negative) and payments or refunds as credits (positive) so the file behaves sensibly in Excel and QuickBooks. Glance at the preview's color coding and flip anything that looks inverted — every amount is editable.
My statement is a scan, not a download — will it work?
Not yet. Scanned PDFs contain images, not text, and the tool detects this and tells you instead of failing silently. OCR support for scanned statements is on the roadmap.
Does my statement get uploaded anywhere?
Never. The PDF is opened and parsed by JavaScript inside your browser tab. There is no server-side processing at all — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and keep converting.
I already paid but lost my license key — what do I do?
Your key was delivered by email as soon as the purchase went through, so search for the receipt first. You can also recover it anytime at my.lemonsqueezy.com using your purchase email. After that, click "Enter license key" in the top navigation to re-activate.
