Why convert a QBO file to Excel?
QBO files are built for QuickBooks imports, not for reading. Converting to Excel lets you sort, filter, and pivot transactions, share a readable file with an accountant or client, or analyze spending without opening QuickBooks at all.
What's the difference between QBO and OFX?
QBO is Intuit's flavor of the OFX 1.02 "Web Connect" format — same SGML structure with a few QuickBooks-specific conventions. This converter reads both, including newer OFX 2.x XML files, so a .ofx download from your bank works just as well.
Does my file get uploaded to a server?
No. The file is parsed locally in your browser tab with JavaScript. You can load this page, go offline, and it still works — nothing about your transactions ever reaches us.
How are the columns decided?
Each transaction in the file carries a date, amount, name, and memo. The converter uses the memo as the description when it's longer (banks often truncate the name), keeps amounts signed (debits negative), and normalizes dates to YYYY-MM-DD. Everything stays editable in the preview before you export.
