What's the difference between QFX, OFX and QBO?
They're all the same family — the Open Financial Exchange standard. OFX is the open format; QFX is Quicken's flavor of OFX 1.x with Intuit branding tags on top; QBO is QuickBooks' flavor ("Web Connect"). Because QFX is structurally OFX 1.x, this page parses it with the same engine and rewrites the transactions in the exact Web Connect shape QuickBooks imports.
Why won't QuickBooks import my .qfx file directly?
QuickBooks Desktop's Web Connect importer is built for its own .qbo flavor and expects the file to reference a financial institution from its approved list — QFX files are registered to Quicken instead, so QuickBooks refuses them (and simply renaming the extension doesn't change what's inside). This converter extracts just your transactions and writes a fresh, clean .qbo without the Quicken-specific wrapper.
Will the converted file import cleanly?
The output is standard OFX 1.02 Web Connect — the format QuickBooks Desktop imports via File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files. The first time, QuickBooks may ask you to confirm which account the file belongs to; that's normal and the import still completes. QuickBooks Online also accepts the file via Banking → Upload transactions.
Is it safe to convert bank files here?
Safer than most alternatives: the file never travels anywhere. There is no upload button wired to a server — the conversion is plain JavaScript executing in your browser tab, and closing the tab discards everything.
